What websites cost in Albury Wodonga.

Very few designers publish a full rate card, so these ranges come from advertised packages and what local businesses report paying through 2026. Use them to sanity-check a quote, not to replace one.

$1.5k–3ktemplate site

A few pages, a set design

WordPress or a site builder, 3 to 5 pages. Fine for sole traders, clubs and anyone who needs to exist online this month.

$4–12kcustom business site

Designed around your business

6 to 12 pages with proper design, help with the words and the SEO basics built in. Where most local business sites sit.

$6k+online store

Shopify or WooCommerce

Depends heavily on how many products you have, how you ship and what it needs to connect to.

Site plus custom software or a client portalQuoting, bookings, connected systems$15,000+
SEO retainerMonthly, usually a 3 to 6 month minimum$800–3,000/mo
Hosting and care planShould be optional and cancellable$50–300/mo

A number quoted before anyone has asked about your page count, your content and whether you need bookings or payments is a guess dressed up as a proposal.

Eight questions to ask any web designer.

Ask every one of them. A good designer will be glad you did, and the answers sort the solid ones from the rest in about ten minutes.

  1. Who owns the domain, the hosting and the code afterwards? The answer should be you, in your name, with your own logins. Anything else is leverage held over you later.
  2. Is the price fixed, or does it move?Ask what triggers an extra invoice. Revisions, extra pages and scope changes are the usual three.
  3. If this is a rebuild, how do you protect my rankings? You want to hear the words redirect and Search Console. If you don’t, expect a traffic drop on launch day.
  4. Who does the work, and is any of it outsourced?Either answer is fine. Finding out afterwards is not.
  5. Is SEO part of the build or a separate line?Heading structure, meta data, schema and a sitemap belong in the build. Ongoing SEO is its own service.
  6. What does support cost, and can I cancel it?A locked contract to host a five-page site is a bad sign.
  7. Can I see two sites you built over a year ago that are still live?Anyone can show a launch screenshot. Sites that survive tell you more.
  8. Will you set up my Google Business Profile? For most businesses here the map results decide whether you get called at all. A shrug at this question tells you plenty.

Every guide, in full.

The same six answers the questions above lead to. Each one says where we fit, including when we don’t.

A simple business site

A clean site that shows up, loads fast and makes it easy to call you.

Typical cost locally
$1,500 to $5,000
Timeframe
2 to 4 weeks
Usually built on
WordPress, a site builder or custom code

Look for

  • Recent sites for local businesses like yours that are still live
  • Your Google Business Profile set up as part of the job
  • The domain and hosting in your name

Ask before you sign

  • How many rounds of changes are included?
  • What does it cost per month once it’s live?
  • Can I see it on my phone before launch?

Red flags

  • A price before anyone asks what you do
  • A 12 or 24 month lock-in for hosting
  • No mention of Google at all

Where we fit. We hand-code sites with the SEO built in from day one, starting around $4k. If you only need a few pages and want to tweak them yourself, a template build from a local solo designer is the cheaper route, and that’s fine.

An online store

A store people trust enough to put their card into.

Typical cost locally
$6,000 to $20,000+
Timeframe
4 to 8 weeks
Usually built on
Shopify or WooCommerce

Look for

  • Stores they’ve built with a similar number of products
  • Shipping rules, GST and payments set up properly
  • Your products feeding into Google Shopping

Ask before you sign

  • Whose account is the store in?
  • What will apps and plugins cost every month?
  • Who loads the products, and how many are included?

Red flags

  • The store sits in the designer’s account, not yours
  • No questions about how you ship
  • “We’ll sort the products out later”

Where we fit. We build stores when they need to connect to stock, accounting or quoting systems. For a straight Shopify store, a Shopify specialist is usually the better call.

Bookings, quotes and the systems behind them

A site that does some of the admin for you.

Typical cost locally
$6,000 to $25,000+
Timeframe
6 to 12 weeks
Usually built with
Custom code linked to tools like Xero or HubSpot

Look for

  • Someone who asks how you work now before they design anything
  • Real examples of connecting to the tools you already pay for
  • A plan for what happens when something breaks

Ask before you sign

  • What happens to my data if we part ways?
  • Can an off-the-shelf tool do this cheaper?
  • Who supports it after launch, and what does that cost?

Red flags

  • A plugin stack nobody can explain
  • No discovery session before the quote
  • Your customer data stored somewhere you can’t get at

Where we fit. This is our main work. An off-the-shelf booking tool wired in properly sits at the low end of that range. Custom quoting or a client portal sits at the top. See business automation.

Replacing your current site

A better site without losing the Google traffic you already have.

Typical cost locally
$3,000 to $12,000
Timeframe
3 to 6 weeks
The bit that matters
Redirects from every old page

Look for

  • A plan to redirect every old page to its new address
  • Someone who checks which pages bring in traffic now
  • Search Console watched for a few weeks after launch

Ask before you sign

  • How will you protect my current rankings?
  • What happens to my existing content and photos?
  • Do I keep my domain and email untouched?

Red flags

  • Blank looks at the word “redirect”
  • Launching on a Friday afternoon
  • Every page rewritten without checking what ranks

Where we fit. We audit the old site before we touch it, so nothing that ranks gets lost. Rebuilds are a big part of what we do. See web design in Albury Wodonga.

More calls from Google

Often the site isn’t the problem. Being findable is.

One-off fix-up
$1,000 to $3,000
Ongoing SEO
$800 to $3,000 a month
Time to see results
3 to 6 months

Start with

  • Your Google Business Profile: photos, hours, services, reviews
  • A page for each service and each town you cover
  • Fixing speed and mobile issues

Ask before you sign

  • What exactly will you do each month?
  • How will I see results: rankings, calls or both?
  • Can I leave after the minimum term?

Red flags

  • Guaranteed number one rankings
  • Reports full of numbers but no calls
  • Long contracts with no clear deliverables

Where we fit. We do local SEO in-house and we’ll tell you upfront if a one-off fix is all you need instead of a retainer. See SEO.

Not sure yet

Write down three things you want the website to do for you.

Basic site
$1,500 to $5,000
Online store
$6,000 and up
Site with systems
$6,000 to $25,000+

Good starting points

  • “Get more quote requests”
  • “Stop answering the same five questions”
  • “Look as good as we actually are”

Then ask a designer

  • Which of these can a website actually fix?
  • What’s the cheapest way to get the first one done?
  • What would you leave out?

Red flags

  • Being sold the biggest package first
  • Nobody asking how you get customers now
  • A quote with no breakdown

Where we fit. Our free audit looks at your site, how you show up on Google and the admin behind both, then tells you what’s worth fixing. Sometimes the answer is “nothing yet”.

Choosing a web designer in Albury.

Automatrix is a web design, SEO and automation agency in Albury Wodonga. We’ve said in every guide where we fit and where we don’t. Nobody paid for anything on this page and there are no affiliate links. Questions or corrections to info@automatrix.au.

Who is the best web designer in Albury?

Nobody holds the title, and anyone claiming it is selling. The best web designer is the one that fits the job you actually have, so start with what you need the website to do, then check any designer against the questions on this page. Automatrix is the fit when the website needs quoting, booking or admin systems behind it, when you want custom code instead of a theme, and when you want to own everything at the end. Do not hire anyone, including us, if the website is not the real problem.

What kind of web designer do I need?

Start from the job, not the designer. A few pages so people can find you is a simple business site. Selling products needs an ecommerce build. If the website has to take bookings, produce quotes or connect to the systems you already run, you need someone who writes software as well as pages. The three questions at the top of this page will point you to the right one.

How much does a website cost in Albury?

A template WordPress site from a solo operator runs $1,500 to $3,000. A custom-designed business site sits between $4,000 and $12,000. Ecommerce starts higher. Care plans run $50 to $300 a month. Full breakdown in the pricing table above.

Local designer or a city agency?

Local matters less for build quality than for accountability. Someone here can meet you, knows the market, and can’t hide behind a support queue. Several firms ranking for Albury terms operate from Newcastle, Sydney or overseas.

How do I check a designer is really based here?

Look for a street address rather than a PO box, an Australian mobile or an 02 or 03 landline, and a verified Google Business Profile in the region. Overseas operators tend to show international dialling numbers and stock photography. Local providers have reviews from businesses you recognise.

Do Albury web designers do SEO as well?

Most offer it, but the depth varies enormously. Some include on-page basics, others sell a retainer, a few outsource it. Ask specifically whether technical SEO, schema markup and Google Business Profile setup come with the build, because a site launched without them starts invisible.

Is custom code worth more than WordPress?

Depends what the site has to do. WordPress suits standard needs and self-editing. Custom code wins on speed, security and anything unusual: quoting tools, portals, integrations with systems you already run. A slow plugin-heavy site costs you in rankings and conversions, so the cheaper build isn’t always the cheaper outcome.

Why does this page mention the company that wrote it?

Because we build websites in Albury and hiding it would be worse. We’ve said plainly which jobs we’re the wrong fit for. Weigh it accordingly.

We go through your current site the way a customer would, then walk you through it on a 30 minute call: what stops it ranking, where enquiries leak, and a scope and a fixed price if you want us to fix it.

What happens next

  1. Tell us about the business. Two minutes, here, with your website if you have one.
  2. We do the homework. Before we speak we look at your site, your search results and the systems behind them.
  3. A 30 minute call. The findings in plain words, what to fix first, and a fixed price if you want us to do it.
